Q: Just hired a car from Thrifty and when we got to the desk he said "your car voucher is not valid as US Rent a car who you booked it with have gone bust so you will need to pay us $458 for a car for 2 weeks and get a refund from your credit card company for the 1st car" I thought he sounded iffy and it turns out that US Rent a Car have not gone bust and he made the whole thing up to swindle more money from me. What shall i do????

A: Go to the 'Better Business Bureau' in the local area and tell your story - they will be able to advise you what to do, whether to go to police etc. and will also check out that branch of 'Thrifty'. They're sort of like the Trading Standards people in the UK.
