Q: looking for some beaches for a family vacation
A: Well Sac is inland. But you have the San Francisco area about an hour and a half away...places like Half Moon Bay. Then in Granite Bay/Folsom, you have Folsom Lake...it was pretty low last time I was there. You could hang out on the rivers in Sac. Or Tahoe is (I think) about 2 hours away, maybe less. If you don't mind driving a bit, go South on the 101 from below Frisco and you will hit all kinds of great beaches.
