Q: Was thinking of moving there from New York within the next few months. Seems like a great location. Anyone have any input/advice as to particularly nice areas, and their rental and job markets? Is it possible to find decent apartments to rent for around 1000 or less? It will be me and my girlfriend, and we would like to be able to save, but would be willing to pay more if its a really nice area. Thanks! What about some of the cities closer to the Mountains. Or Stockton perhaps?
A: Depending on exactly how far from Sac you want to live, the rent can vary a lot. Midtown and Downtown can be quite expensive. If you wanted to look into the surrounding areas I do have a few suggestions. Natomas is close and is really growing. Roseville and Citrus Heights have some nice areas but are about 20 minutes from Sac. Stay away from Del Paso. There are too many scary areas. You could also try Carmichael and Fair Oaks. Good Luck!!! I grew up in Rocklin (next to Roseville) and it's a very nice area.
