Can you cancel Child Support?

Q: i got it on my hubby, but i dont think i need it anymore.. so is there a way i could cancel it?

A: You did not "get" child support on your husband. The court orders the non-custodial parent to pay support for their children. The money is meant to pay for the needs and if necessary future care of your children. If you find you are able to meet your children's needs without the additional funds, that is great. Make sure you have adequate life insurance and medical insurance to protect the children in case of an emergency. Then make sure that there is some money invested in their future, so they are able to go to college, get an instrument for band, go on the trips for school. Often my wife and I working together don't seem to make enough to cover the many expenses my children seem to require. If you don't want the child support, then put it in savings or a college investment account. If your ex-husband has trouble making the child support payments, then he can go back to court to explain the need to decrease the amount. Every parent bears emotional, physical and financial liability for their children. And that does not stop when they are not the custodial parent.
