Will San antonio be affected by hurricane ike?

Q: Will san antonio be affected by hurricane ike, should we plan to evacuate? what kind of weather will hurricane ike bring to san antonio?

A: The weather patterns in San Antonio will be mostly some thunderstorms and possibly some winds up to around 35 miles an hour. This is not anything more than we often get in the summer storms. Currently the Hurricane is over 600 miles away, and it is not expected that the path of the cone of the hurricane with be within 100 miles of San Antonio. We will see some of the weather changes which occur on the periphery of the storms. Evacuation is not likely, in fact the people from the coast are being evacuated here. There is no real need to stockpile large amounts of food and water. But since there will be some winds, it is always a good idea to have extra batteries and flashlights. The most important thing to remember is to avoid low water crossings and driving into standing water. Even in our normal heavy summer thunderstorms some flash flooding may occur at some points in the city.
