Please help! Need help finding a good place to stay in San Diego area! First time visiting!?

Q: I have never been and we recently got a trip there paid for. We are going after Christmas, but need to book the date soon. There are only a few on the site that is associated with the place that we have the trip through. Can someone familiar with San Diego go to the site and let me know which resorts are the good ones? Or if there are any listed that are close to San Diego? Just do a search and narrow it to Southern Pacific Coast. There are a few San Diego resorts there, but someone told me that all the beaches in San Diego suck and I should stay in another town nearby. PLEASE HELP! http://www.rci.com

A: The beaches in San Diego are great. With over 70 miles of coastline you will find a variety of beaches to choose from. Some are known for surfing, others for families, and others for the younger crowd. Coronado Beach Resort is located on Coronado Island which is just a short drive over the bridge from downtown San Diego. It's an upscale community with shops, restaurants, bike rentals, gondola rides, and a clean beach. The other two hotels are located in downtown San Diego. Gaslamp Plaza Suites is located in the Gaslamp Quarter. This is a vibrant neighborhood with lots of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
