Q: My sister and I have both recently applied for Medical with DSHS. I'm in eastern WA and she lives in Kent. We applied on the same day a few weeks ago. Within days I got an appointment and it's in about a week. She still hasn't gotten an appointment set. Is that normal on that side of the state or did her application get lost?
A: Over here, getting state help quickly is like holding a glacier race. Good luck to your sister. She's going to spend a lot of time on hold whenever DSHS messes something up (and they will.) The sometimes misplace stuff. She should try calling them to light a fire under their butts, but only if she's got a few hours to kill while being on hold.
