Whats the difference between the trees in the Pacific Northwest (Washington) & the South (Georgia, Carolinas)?

Q:

A: Conifers (pine and fir) trees - we have loads of them. In the South there's far more broadleaf trees (oak, elm, maple, etc.) So in fall we don't have the dramatic leaf changing that you see in areas with those types of trees. Georgia and the Carolinas also have palm trees like the palmetto - we don't. But we also don't have the humidity and cockroaches of the Southeast so I'll settle for our pine trees :)
