In hotel terms of reserving a room online what is the feature rate, advanced purchase, and best flexible rate?

Q: This is off the Holiday Inn Express that I am trying to figure out. Do hotels let you reserve a room and just pay when you get there, or is one those terms I listed it?

A: The feature rate is likely just the rate that is currently being offered, with any packages that might be available. The Best Flexible rate is a rate that is specially available to members of the Priority Club in the Holiday Inn family of hotels. You have to join the club to see this rate and it is usually free to join. From the sound of it, this rate could vary as time passes. You might be able to reserve a room at this rate and then get a lower rate if the price drops before your stay. The advance purchase rate allows you to save a % off of the best flexible rate, but requires you to prepay at least 14 days ahead of time, and if you don't go, you don't get your money back. It's kind of like priceline and hotwire. No Refunds under any circumstances, so if you are sure you are going and won't need to change your plans, this would be the best rate you will find.
