Is it true that the museums and the zoo in St. Louis have free admission? ?

Q:

A: Yes, the museums in Forest Park have free admission and include, the Art Museum, History Museum and Science Center. The Zoo is also free, and as someone mentioned the Muny Opera is free, but that season is over. They do outdoor shows for 8 weeks from July-August. At the Zoo, other than concessions parking is $10 in the lots near the zoo and there is a fee to ride the miniature train and the Children's Zoo, although if you get there before 9AM you can get into the Children's Zoo for free. Not bad for the second best zoo in the country. Plus if you get there before 9 there will be ample on street parking nearby which will be free and save you the $10. If you get there much later than 10 o'clock you will have to walk a long way if you want to park for free. At the Science center, the Omnimax and Planitarium shows have admission fees, as well as some of the interactive exhibits, but as with the zoo, most of the exhibits are free. Also if you park on the forest park side, you can park for free. The Art Museum is free except for any special exhibits that are there. These I believe are free all day on Tuesday's if you can make it then. There are some wonderful other places in Forest Park you can visit as well like the Jewel Box and Grand Basin. As someone mentioned, the Missouri Botanical Garden is located not too far away from Forest Park. St. Louis County and City residents can get in free on Saturday mornings. I'm not sire if there are any other times that they can. There is also a great children's play area there which happens to be free on Saturday mornings as well. Parking here is free, but limited. Grant's Farm is another free attraction, where you can see animals in a roaming park like area as well as upclose in a zoo type atmosphere. Plus at the end of your day you can sample some free InBev/A-B products if you are over 21. Unfortunately the only place to park here is in their lot and it will set you back at least $10, but admission is free. After the takeover they went to a weekend only schedule, and I'm not sure when they close for the year. Other places like the City Museum $12 and Magic House Children's Museum $7 have admission fees that can get pretty pricey.
