What would you vote if you lived here?

Q: live in st. louis. we only have 1 public bus transportation system. there is a possibility that more than half of the buses (and all the buses where i live) will be taken out. the people of st. louis will vote on it in november. what would you vote on? to let it go or to take the increase in tax to keep it? remember, if they got rid of it, even people with cars are affected....they would have to carpool, or take an increase in work loads (because those with no bus couldnt do as much), no mardi gras as driving in a car is a death wish (same with all other events). crime could increase as those who cant work because job is too far away have no other resources. article: http://www.metrostlouis.org/crossroads/default.asp if you had the chance to vote on this what would you say? yes, get rid of the buses no, keep them. lovsit..ur a smart person....it would be bad if they got rid of the buses. for everyone!!!

A: Well to answer your question. I think it is important for the people in St. Louis city and County to vote for the tax increase in November to provide funding for Metro Unfortunately, if this vote doesn't pass, not only are the buses going to be decreased, but they are also going to cut service on the Metrolink line as well including discontinuing service after 8pm even on nights when there are sporting events or community events downtown. Think about how that will affect the City in conjunction with the reduced bus service. Increased congestion on the roads, increased pollution from cars sitting in traffic, increased travel times.....I could go on, but I don't think I need to. Cutting public transportation is a really bad idea for so many reasons that short sighted people don't understand. I'll admit that we don't have the most efficient or best run system here in St. Louis, but it is an important part of our City that needs to be improved upon and kept functioning. If we expand the system and find a better way to implement it we might actually have an asset here in the Community. If we don't support it I guess I'll have to start using my car more to get where I need to go.
