Q: We might be planning a short little trip to Baltimore, MD. and would like to also visit Washington, DC. for the day or maybe overnight. What is a quick, cheap way to get back and forth from both cities? I think there is some sort of metro type train (NOT AMTRAK) that runs to both but I'm not sure about the details. How much does it cost? How long is the commute? Where are the stations? What are the running times? Also what is there to do and see in both cities? We'll be there for just 5 days, Sep. 22nd to the 27th. Overall we are just going to do some of the typical cheesy tourist stuff, site seeing, picture taking, etc. Also if anyone knows of any concerts or shows for the above dates that would be great. We love all kinds of music, folk, indie, rock, country, bluegrass, blues, etc. (folk is my favorite, Patty Griffin etc. but my girl loves anything from Tool to H.I.M to Nickel Creek to Tori Amos. So as long as it's not 'Pop' like the stuff they play all day on the radio we'll probably love it!) Thanks :D

A: Hey i live in Baltimore (or right outside of it). There is the Marc train that runs between DC and Baltimore. That will leave from Camden Yards in downtown Baltimore. This will take you to the DC Metro system, from there you can get to just about anywhere in DC (i added the fares chart for the Marc in the sources list). Unfortunately Baltimore's public transpertation isnt all that great. We have the light rail and the subway. Both are really one line each. Most of the touristy stuff is down town so you can walk. As for things to do there are plenty. The Inner Harbor is a nice, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Fort McHenery. There are alot of muesams at the inner harbor plus the aquarium and the science center are really nice. As for night life and concerts you will have to check out Power Plant live. Thats got alot of things going on all the time. Federal Hill, Canton and Fells point are nice places to hang out in at night, alot of bars and hangouts. DC has a lot of muesams too. Best part is most of them are free!! (the federal muesams are all free like the smithsonian) Of course there is the federal buildings and monuments you can go see, like the white house, the capital. There is a pretty big night scene down in DC too, but im not too sure about that. Hope this helps. have fun!
